CAN MY EMBROIDERED OR SCREEN PRINTED CLOTHES BE WASHED AT HOME?
Yes. All embroidered garments should be washed with a mild detergent. If necessary, a small amount of chlorine bleach can be used. Non-chlorine bleach in accordance with product instructions is preferable.
Follow these instructions to safely clean your embroidered and screen printed clothing:
- Machine wash in cold water on the ‘delicate’ wash cycle
- If possible turn item inside out
- If color residue appears in the water, rinse first in lukewarm water and then cold water several times until the rinse water becomes clear
- Remove the garment promptly after the wash cycle is complete
- Never leave any piece of embroidered clothing soaking in water or lying in a pile while wet
- Do not wring out embroidered clothing; hang to let dry
- Do not rub stained embroidery. Call us for additional care instructions.
CAN I DRY CLEAN MY EMBROIDERED OR SCREEN PRINTED APPAREL?
Embroidery may be dry-cleaned. However, extreme care should be exercised when dry cleaning. Special care must be taken when dark shades are dry-cleaned. Avoid using any pre-spotting agents.
WHICH EMBROIDERED CLOTHING ITEMS CAN BE INDUSTRIALLY LAUNDERED?
Garments that are embroidered with Madeira's 100% polyester vibrant color glossy embroidery thread are resistant to chlorine bleach. Polyneon is the ideal thread for embroidering on uniforms, safety garments and commercial linens. Items using Polyneon can be industrially laundered when proper procedures are followed, as outlined by the International Fabricare Institute. Please call or send a fax for additional details.
CAN MY EMBROIDERED CLOTHING BE IRONED?
Yes. However, there are a few things to keep in mind before ironing your embroidered apparel:
- Embroidered fabrics should always be ironed on the reverse side
- It is recommended to iron embroidery between two pieces of cloth
- It is not recommended to wet embroidery prior to ironing or to use a steam iron

With all new Corporate Embroidery designs, we provide a sew out sample for you to approve in person. If necessary we can send a photograph. We cannot put the order through to production until the sew out is approved.

WHAT TYPE OF ARTWORK FILES DO I NEED?
Our requirement for all embellishment processes is any 300 DPI (quality) file you have available, or any vector-based art file. We require .ai or .eps files that are not bitmap embedded images. If you are supplying a Raster image format, it should be saved as .tiff or .psd for one-color, or as a .psd file with layers for multi-color images, whenever possible.
Please remember to convert all text to outlines or curves as opposed to editable fonts, when submitting a file.
We also require PMS colors.
All art files submitted may require additional revisions, resulting in design charges, at a rate of $25/hr ($15 minimum), or via custom quote.
If you have a digitized embroidery file, we require either a .dst or .emb format. We will also require artwork to verify colors.
WHAT IS CAMERA READY ARTWORK?
Professional black and white mechanicals and black mechanicals on high-gloss paper make good camera-ready art.
The following are not camera-ready:
- Pen and/or pencil drawings
- Newspaper or Yellow Pages ads
- Business cards
- Raised thermographic printing
Although we can digitize artwork in these formats, the quality will only be as good as the material you supply. Camera-ready layouts help us to deliver the highest quality in our embroidery, screen printing and promotional products.
